Grandma Shirley

On Wednesday my young, healthy, loving, Grandma Shirley fell while watering her yard.  She broke her knee cap in two.  Today, Sunday she is having surgery to put it back together.  Please pray for a quick recovery.  She has been staying with my mom and dad, and we have been able to wait on her, cook for her, and pamper her… What a pleasure.  She is a wonderful woman, who NEVER complains, and always has a smile…  We love Grandma Shirley… Happy Healing!

Becky’s Birthday Quilt

My sister Becky has a birthday….. Happy Birthday Becky… Since I have given her gifts already, and she wanted them before her birthday… I still wanted something to give her on the her bday, here is what I came up with… I stumbled upon a sheet that was ours when we were little in-fact these very sheets were on our yellow bunk beds, a butterfly sheet that was our Nana’s and even several “silkies” the blankets she still today sleeps with… all of this was found during the closet remodel… Well that got my wheels spinning, I called my mom and asked if she had more sheets from our childhood {she did} so born was the “Childhood Quilt”  I also rolled the “silkies” put them in a metal tub made her a special card/tag and took them to her… She remembered EVERY sheet and loved the gift…

Oh and I thought I’d share what my little princess “Daisy” did after I spend 1 1/2 hours laying out the quilt design… I left the room to cut a few more squares and came back to this…

Before I got the camera {it was either take a picture and blog or cry about it} Miss Daisy was right in the middle with one quilt square on her head and one on her back.  Naughty girl…

Tina W. my buddy, my pal… Called me to say she was coming over with a little goody for me…  When she got here, she said, “let me explain the bag first” The front is done with fall leaves and colors {my fav.}

The back of the bag is some of my favorite things… Disneyland, camera for picture taking, cleaning supplies, stamp for all that letters and notes I like to write, and HOME….

Inside was these sweet candles, one Americana for my July mantel, and the other because the ribbon says, “moments” and it has a little frame you can add a picture to.

Thank you Tina for your thoughtfulness, you made my day!

Betty Crocker that is, blueberry muffins are one of our favorite morning treats!  As I was mixing the batter it occurred to me that my Pampered Chef medium scoop, a gift from my mother in law about 10 years ago, is my most used kitchen tool.   A friend of hers had a party and since she doesn’t cook or bake, she bought it for me!  I must say this one of the best gifts she has ever given me.

I use my scoop for muffins and cupcakes, one scoop is the perfect amount for the paper cups.  I use this scoop for cookie dough, and making pancakes…  So I ask you… What’s you favorite kitchen tool and or treat?

Got Milk? {glass that is}

I have seen these great snack plates with matching cups for a while now, most that I come across are clear glass… On Friday evening my sister and mom drug me kicking and screaming the whole way {yeah right} to Goodwill after a family bbq.  Spike said, go ahead go, try and keep it at about 10 bucks though, {which was perfect because I had my handy spend $15.00 get $5.00 off coupon} I never leave home without it. As soon as we walked in my mom and I spotted at the same time these GREAT 1950’s milk glass snack sets, the plates were $1.00 and the cups were $.75 they’re was 11 of each!  I stared in awe, as I love milk glass.  My mom said get them!  Well I already had a few goodies, so she said just get 5 or 6 sets!  WHAT, how crazy is that I would never be able to leave some behind….  I resisted and kept shopping {Spike I was being a GOOD girl}.  Then I stumbled on about 50 of the little romance books I like to read… sheeeeeeeeez… I bought 9 of those.  My sis found a couple things, my mom found a couple things, then do you know what she did?  She walked right over and loaded her cart with ALL 11 of those milk glass snack plates/cups.  She said, “I am buying them for you” and then she bought Becky’s items too.  Thanks mom and {dad}!  I was telling Em about these little beauties Saturday night and she decided to go to Goodwill, and guess what she found??  MORE of my snack sets!  I was a good girl again and just had her pick up another set so I have an even 12!  Thanks Em!

I’m lovin’ it… Hope they will….

I made this queen size quilt for Spike’s aunt and uncle as a thank you gift, why McDonald’s??  Because they own between 20 and 30 of them!  Why a thank you gift??  Because they have paid for our son Chris to fly to Louisiana {where they live} where he will visit with the family and then next week they will board the motor-home and head for Duke University in NC.  Chris along with their son will be attending a week long basketball camp!  Talk about a once in a lifetime experience!
